Any speaker should remember three simple rules, the presentation should:

  1. Explain

  2. Prove

  3. Make an impression (create a wow-effect)

The structure, logic and design of the slides should also be subject to the solution of these tasks.

  • For explanation - a scheme that simply and intelligently shows the logic and structure of the solution to a business problem

  • For the proof of your claims, it is better to use numbers which are represented in the form of tables, graphs and diagrams

  • For impression, use beautiful, thematic photos that will produce trouble-free effect on your listeners

Presentation is full of information

Depending on the saturation of the slides with the information, three types of presentation are distinguished:

  1. Presentation in front of a large audience (conference room)

  2. Presentation to a small audience (meeting room)

  3. Presentation for reading

Presentation in front of a large audience is characterized by a minimum of text and large catchy illustrations. This option is only suitable for very advanced in the art of presentations. The focus is on the brightness of your own oral presentation, there are only a few pictures or very simple schemes on the slide. In this style, Steve Jobs usually spoke. Do not take risks if your presentation skills are far from the advanced level

Presentation to a small audience (meeting room) is characterized by an average amount of text and informative illustrations. Try in your presentation to keep a balance of conciseness and at the same time containing the necessary minimum of data. It is also important that your work is visually attractive and convenient for perception

The presentation for reading is characterized by the maximum of text, a lot of illustrations, tables, diagrams. Try to present the decision in writing in detail. However, it is important to make the presentation easy to read, do not overload slides

Structure ofb the presentation

Everything that will be visible to the strict jury is your final presentation:

  • In the introduction, give brief introductory information: describe the problem of the business case, the basic question you will answer

  • Then make an Executive Summary: show the final conclusions of your decision. This will help to structure the main part of the presentation, and greatly facilitate its perception

  • In the main part of the presentation, consistently highlight all aspects of your decision, explain your actions and argue the choice, Don’t forget to give conclusions on each aspect

  • Summarize your research and repeat the conclusions and recommendations

Slide headings

Make the presentation logical and consistent.

From the slides' headings, create a logical and complete story about your steps and the logic of the business case solution, conclusions and recommendations. For this, we advise you to disclose the essence of the slide in the title and not to be limited to a short title.

It is easy to check: when you make the final presentation, pass in a mode of viewing Slide Sorter and reconsider everything. Thus you’ll not only make sure that the story of the solution is created, but you will also see which slides are knocked out of the general visual series and need to be improved.

Registration of presentation

In order to make your slides attractive and accurate, use the tips:

  • Use a single color scheme. First of all, pay attention to the corporate colors of the company from your case. We recommend only three colors. Before use, check their compatibility on a color wheel. In addition to the useful content inside, the presentation slides themselves should look stylish

  • Make a single slide template, and make sure that all layout elements remain in place. This will facilitate the perception of information

  • Illustrations should reinforce the basic idea of the slide and stay on topic. Do not hesitate to remove the illustration, which distracts from the idea of the presentation. Make all charts and diagrams even, clear, noticeable. For their production, use special apps (for example MS Visio)

As a handout, your presentation printed in the issuance format and neatly stitched in a brochure will be perfect. We recommend to place 2-3 slides on an A4 sheet. In this case, it will be convenient for the jury members to leave their notes and comments on your presentation. You can also attach the details of the main calculations and other relevant information from your solution. The number of handouts should be prepared at the rate of one for each member of the jury. Here you can attach your conclusions, suggestions, solution scheme, key calculations. The main thing is not to overdo it with the number of sheets: nobody likes superfluous papers.

During the presentation, the judge may ask you to specify where you got this or that figure. Demonstrate your professionalism, and give the jury your stylish booklet with calculations and conclusions before the performance. A beautiful handout will help to put judges to you. Do not neglect it!
